One thing that makes Spark Developments shine, is our no-nonsense, at-all-costs approach to delivering for our customers.

We needed all this and more when junior rally driver, Thomas Marriott came to us for help with his new rally car ahead of a pre-season test.

Delays in sourcing the car and getting the roll cage fitted left the team with a seemingly impossible task; to build a brand new rally car from the ground up in less than a day.

The car arrived at Spark Developments on Friday lunchtime, and after a planning session to understand what the priorities were for the test the following day, work began transforming a roadgoing Skoda Citigo into a championship-spec Junior 1000 Rally Car.

Rob Brook, owner of Clubman Motorsport and codriver for the team explained the scale of the task:

“Things never go smoothly with a new car, but Jamie said ‘bring it down – let’s see what we can do!’ We loaded the car at 12:30am, exactly 12 hours after the build began.

After going home for a bit of kip, the car was passported at 8am – 20 hours after we got it back from the roll cage fabricator – and we were ready to put it through its paces.”

After a long day building the car, both Jamie and David attended the test the next morning, to ensure Thomas’ first few miles went smoothly, on hand to provide advice and assistance where needed.
